What is an Operating system?
Some of the most known Operating systems(OS):
- Windows
- Mac
- Ubuntu(linux)
Very basic:
What do your computer do when you press the power button?
The first thing that happens is that a program called BIOS collects information about what your computer is made of. More specific, what hard drive you have, what cd room and so on.
Second, short said, a application detects file-system and starts loading your OS.
Third (skippeng the log in) the operating system starts up, using the information from the BIOS and start application to use your computers components and gives you a graphical interface.
The OS controls all communication between the hardware and your applications. (example: mouse – screen – firefox +all between)
“Without an operating system your computer is nothing else than a box that lights up”(Bill Gates)
